Starved Rock

We needed a little vacation, so we just took a few hours on Saturday and drove down to a place just south of us about an hour and a half called Starved Rock. It's known for beautiful waterfalls in the spring, great camping during the summer, and as you can see some gorgeous colors in the fall! You can even cross country ski there in the winter... we probably won't be doing that. (There is some interesting Indian history, like how the place got it's name... mom you can look it up!) We didn't go back into any of the real hikes, but did enjoy the scenery and let the girls run around. The other cool thing about the place is that Eagles apparently nest there in the winter, we saw several and actually got a picture of two! We thought that was pretty cool! it was a great drive and a very nice and needed day trip!
