We celebrated Afton's 4th birthday Saturday, May 12th! We spent the day playing at Blackberry Farm Park, just about 15 min. from our house. We had never been there, but I am sure we will go back. It is perfect for little kids! They had a carousel, a train, little tractors to ride, and even ponies! Afton has talked a lot about riding ponies, but this was the first time she actually rode one! She loved it and went again! We had a little picnic and opened gifts, then she and Aaron spent some time flying her new kite! It was a very pretty day, and the girls both had a great time! This park is right across the street from a little water park too, it would really be a perfect place to have a little family reunion! There's enough to do, but it's not overwhelming! Anyone up for a summer visit to Chicago?! Afton is very excited to be 4 now! We bought a bunk bed from a friend who was moving and Afton has been wanting to sleep on the top for a while. We told her when she turned 4 she could... and she didn't forget! Now she is sleeping up top and Chelsea is sleeping on the bottom. While putting the girls to bed is rarely a piece of cake, it was a much smoother transition than I had anticipated, whew! Afton has also learned how to spell her name this last month. We would sing the B-I-N-G-O song, but we changed the words to: There was a mom who had a girl and Afton was her name-o, A-F-T-O-N... etc! She got a kick out of it and it helped her remember how to spell her name. We have also been working on her writing her name. We mainly focused on the letter A, but yesterday she wrote out her whole name all on her own. I was a little shocked, it was like all of a sudden it just clicked. It's cute I think she writes each letter in capital form except her n. We'll keep working on it.
