These pictures of our girls playing in the back yard, together, really represent some of the most happy moments in my life as a mother! I love that Afton and Chelsea play together so well. (They have their moments of pure frustration too, but that's not what I'm going to talk about!) As we enter into the cold winter season there will be less free play outside and more messes inside. I love the yard we've been able to have for last six months. As you can see we have too many plastic play toys, but the girls LOVE them. Their favorite addition has been the sandbox, while it has brought about extra bath-time it really has been so fun for them to be able to sit and dig in the dirt. To get a little messy! They pretend and create their own fun, and for me the world seems to pause for a minute as I watch them playing together outside. I can't see my dishes and my laundry or the bills that need to be sorted... just two very happy and beautiful faces enjoying their freedom. I wish I had more pictures like these. I wish these images happened daily, but more typically the things that SEEM so utterly important and time pressing seem to win my attention.
So this is my goal: I want to be able to take a photo like this every day, even if it's in the middle of my messy living room or up in their little toy alcove. Don't worry I won't really get the camera out and blog each of them. I just want to take the time to stop and enjoy how lucky I am to have these little girls, and to appreciate this stage of their life... I hear it goes by really fast!

What a beautiful family you have. I'm amazed at your strength and dedication when it comes to raising your girls so far from family... I know I wouldn't be able to do it! :) The fall colors look beautiful and I am so jealous... it's still like mid-80's here. again, your girls are beautiful and we can't wait to meet the new little Bodell!
Simply gorgeous, relaxed and wonderful! Enjoy your time outside- Jillian loves her swing outside and I am dreading the cold weather headed our way... :(
Hello...Bad friend here! I just found out you're expecting! Congrats! I can't believe Afton is 6. Time goes way to fast and I've been told it goes even faster when you have kids. So true. Lucas is already 7 months and crawling! What happened to my newborn?!
